What makes Malta unique?
A tiny state with a great history:
Malta is one of the smallest countries in the world (only 316 km²), but its role in world history is enormous. Fierce battles took place here, from the era of antiquity to the Second World War. The Knights of Malta left a rich legacy in the form of fortresses, palaces and hospitals, many of which have survived to this day.
Language is a living reflection of history:
The Maltese language is unique: it is based on Arabic, but has absorbed many words from Italian, English and other European languages. It symbolizes the cultural diversity and rich history of the island.
Architectural contrasts:
Malta combines ancient knightly fortresses with modern buildings and resorts. Narrow streets and massive walls coexist with trendy cafes and nightclubs.
Climate and nature:
There are more than 300 sunny days on the island a year! The mild Mediterranean climate makes it an ideal holiday destination at any time of the year. The incredibly clear sea, picturesque cliffs and lagoons attract lovers of nature and outdoor activities.
