WITHEvilla (Sevilla) is the capital of Andalusia, an extremely distinctive city on the banks of the Guadalquivir.

For almost 200 years, Seville held a monopoly on trade with the American colonies, and traces of Andalusian culture are still felt in Latin America, with its siestas and carnivals.

The minaret of the 93-meter-high quadrangular Arabic Giralda Mosque (12th century), which was converted into the bell tower of a magnificent Gothic cathedral, the Golden Tower (Torre del Oro), an ancient bastion of the Arab city wall, the Monastery of Santa Maria de las Cuevas, where Columbus was originally buried, and the Park of the Discovery on the island of Cartuja are very impressive. Seville Cathedral (1402-1506, 116 m long, 76 m wide), built on the site of a former mosque, is the third largest Christian cathedral in the world.

The old city is located on the left bank of the river, in a place surrounded by a wall under the Arabs, the remains of which are still preserved. Here are the most famous quarters of the city: Santa Cruz, San Bartolome, San Vincente, San Lorenzo and El Arenal. On the right bank of the river is the historical suburb of Triana, which, together with the Old Town, is the most interesting site for tourists.

Maria Luisa Park and Plaza de España are symbols of the city. The Plaza de España is surrounded by a series of arches, which are crowned with the coats of arms of all the provinces of the country.

Magic Island (Isla Magica) is a theme park located directly in the city. In addition to the attractions, you have the opportunity to get acquainted with the history, culture and art of various times and peoples, enjoy a water show, ride a high-speed slide, and during lunch or dinner listen to exotic songs performed by numerous musical groups.
