Monastery of Ripoll – Church of the Virgin of Montgroni

MWe will travel to the very cradle of Catalonia, to the city of Ripoll, where we will visit one of the oldest monasteries of this land, created back in 880. The Benedictine monastery of St. Mary is a historical and cultural heritage of Catalonia. You will see a real work of art of the Romanesque era - the relief carved portal of the main entrance to the temple, created in the 12th century. The city is located at an altitude of 691 m above sea level, near the confluence of the two rivers Ter and Freser. Continuing our excursion we will climb one of the Pyrenees mountain ranges, Montgroni, up to 1408 m, where the Romanesque Church of St. Peter dates back to 899, and the structure has survived to this day.  is a building from 1130. At the end of the tour, you will have the opportunity to enjoy typical local cuisine in a rustic restaurant located in a 17th-century building, next to the Chapel of St. Mary of Montgroni.
